IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE
===========================
In order to run Nali Chronicles, you must download Epic Bonus Pack 1, an official add-on to
Unreal Tournament. You can find it here: http://www.beyondunreal.com/dl.php/official/ut/utbonuspack.zip

RUNNING THE GAME
================
To run Nali Chronicles, simply run the NaliChronicles.exe file in your UnrealTournament\System\
folder (sorry, Nali Chronicles does not currently support non-Windows operating systems). You
will have to select your video mode and configure your video, audio, and input preferences.
It is strongly recommended that you set the controls for the new Nali Chronicles keys (such
as the spell related keys) where they can be reached easily, as spells are very important in
Nali Chronicles. Once you have configured all your prefences, you can start a new game or choose
to skip the tutorial portion (though the tutorial is very much recommended for all players as it
explains the new spell system and other aspects of Nali Chronicles that are not present in any
other games).

IN-GAME CONTROLS
================
Most of the contents of this section is covered in the tutorial, but in case you decided to skip
it or simply forgot, here is a rundown of the new controls in Nali Chronicles:
Next/Previous Spell Book - these keys allow you to cycle through the 6 groups of spells
Next/Previous Spell - use these to select from the spells in each group
Next Quick Spell - this selects the next spell in line in the Quick Spell box
Add Quick Spell - this replaces the currently selected Quick Spell will the currently highlighted
		spell in the spell box (or simply adds it to the Quick Spell box if there is room)
Skip Key - this key skips to the next line of a dialogue or skips the current cutscene

CASTING SPELLS
==============
Note: Most of this information is available in the tutorial
The new spell system in Nali Chronicles is simple but quite different from that found in many other
games. The spells are arranged into six "books" or categories. These are displayed in the small
horizontal box in the lower left of the screen. Right below that is the larger horizontal box which
displays the spells in the selected book. The square box above these two boxes contains the currently
assigned quick spells (see the controls section above for information on what controls to use for
adding quick spells and selecting them). To the right of this box is the icon of the currently selected
spell and a brief description. To cast the spell, hold down the spell casting button (default is the
right mouse button). The selected spell icon will turn green, representing the progress of the spell.
Most spells can be released at any time, but will usually be weaker if not cast at full power. The number
in the corner of each spell icon represents the mana cost of casting the spell at maximum strength.

MANA GATHERING AND SKILLS
=========================
Note: Most of this information is available in the tutorial
In Nali Chronicles, casting spells of a particular category will eventually improve your proficiency with
that "book" of spells. This proficiency is represented by a number over the book icon in the upper right
of the screen and ranges from 0 (not shown) to 4. The proficiency determines the power of the spells and
your ability to gather mana from strong elemental sources around you. For example, if you are proficient
in water magic, approaching a lake may replenish your mana pool to a certain degree. When you approach
a usable mana source, a bar will appear next to your mana bar. Within, the brighter colored bar represents
the maximum mana you can gain from this source (so if the bar is at, say, 40, your mana will only go up to
40 from this source, and if it is already over 40, nothing will happen), while the dimmer bar represents
the mana you would be able to gain if your skill in that type of magic was at 4.

MIXING POTIONS
==============
Note: Most of this information is available in the tutorial
Throughout the game you will find ingredients and instructions for mixing your own potions. Potions can
replenish your health, mana, and improve your speed and casting ability, among other things. To create
your own potion, you first need an empty bottle or vial in your inventory. After you activate this container,
an image of it will appear under the inventory panel. You can then activate various ingredients to add them
to the container, and once you are done, you can use the boiling device to attempt to create a potion.
If you have your proportions right (you will find the actual recipes in the game), a potion should appear
in your inventory. Otherwise you will only get back an empty vial or bottle.

THE STORY
=========
Nali Chronicles takes place on the fictional planet Na Pali, the setting of the first Unreal games - Unreal
and Unreal: Return to Na Pali. This planet was once inhabited only by the peaceful and primitive Nali people,
until the war-like Skaarj arrived at the planet, seeking its rich deposits of tarydium. The Skaarj brought
with them their slaves - the Krall, and other, darker beasts, and enslaved the Nali people to work the
tarydium mines. But not all were conquered and enslaved...
