ZIP VERSION (7Bullets-Zip):

-Within the zip you will have an oldskool230lite.zip, this small mod is required to play 7Bullets. Open it, then run the .UMOD to install OldSkool.

-Unzip the 7Bullets-Zip.zip file to your unreal tournament directory, making sure to not have extract paths off. All files should now be in the appropriate folders.

-Additionally, and optionally, there are OpenGL.dll and olgsettings.txt in the root directory of the zip (and now in the root directory of your UT folder). We STRONGLY reccomend using these, as these settings were used in 7Bullets development and show the game as it was intended. To install this new OpenGL driver, copy OpenGL.dll into your /Unreal Tournament/System directory, overwriting the old file. Next open the oglsettings.txt file, copy everything. Then open "UnrealTournament.ini" in your UT/System directory, find the section begginging "[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]", and replace this section with the one copied from the oglsettings.txt info file.

Now, start UnrealTournament, and enable OldSkool under the new "Mod" menu. New single player specific options are now available under the Options menu. Set these up now, specifically, bind a Reload key. When your options are set, hit the New Singleplayer Game under the Game menu. Set difficulty levels, and go :)

2. Getting Started

Once all files are set in appropriate folders, go into UT and start new single player game. Select 7 Bullets and start new game. The menu will ask you to select a difficulty setting. The game is heavily altered by the difficulty selection. Your choice will effect the skill and attack power of your enemies, the number of enemies you will encounter, the weapons you begin the game with, and the amount of items you collect on the way. The differences between the levels of difficulty are listed below:

Easy: "Green Marine". You start off with a full USM arsenal, which includes the Dispersion Pistol, a Machine Mag, A Combat Assault Rifle, and the XP-Chaingun. You also will be equipped with USM body armor on start-up, Universal Translator, a Flashlight, and 8 Rations. Items found in game levels are plentiful. You will encounter fewer enemies on this level and their attacks will be lighter than normal. Good for weaker players or those new to Single Player.

Medium: "Standard Issue". You start off with a full USM arsenal, which includes the Dispersion Pistol, a Machine Mag, A Combat Assault Rifle, and the XP-Chaingun. You also will be equipped with USM body armor on start-up, a Universal Translator, a Flashlight, and 6 Rations. Items found in game levels are plentiful. You will encounter a normal line-up of enemies and their attacks will also be of standard level danger. Good for those looking for a normal gametype that provides efficient challenge and difficulty.

Hard: "USM Commando." You start off with standard USM arsenal, which includes the Dispersion Pistol, a Machine Mag, and Combat Assault Rifle. You also will be equipped with USM body armor on start-up, a Universal Translator, a Flashlight, and 3 Rations. Items found in game levels are standard. You will encounter more enemies than usual and their attacks will be heavy. Good for those who are seasoned Unreal SP gamers.

Unreal: "Xidia Incident Veteran". You start off with limited USM arsenal, which includes the Dispersion Pistol and Combat Assault Rifle. You also will be equipped with USM body armor on start-up, Flashlight, and Universal Translator. No Rations available in this mode. Items found in game levels are limited. You will encounter a significant percentage of enemies and their attacks will be heavy. This difficulty is reserved for those looking for gameplay closer to the Xidia Incident and Xidia:The Escape.

NOTE!: When playing on Unreal Difficulty, you will encounter exclusive enemies not seen on other difficulties.

USM mission briefing #1123
Charter J17
Recruitment unit 8427
Operation: Fox Tracker
Commanding officer, Lt. E. Crowley

Firstly Jones, congratulations on the success of "Operation: Nali Freedom", your ability to administer the EMP disabled the target as required. Because of your precision and speed in accomplishing that mission, we are recalling you for active duty right away with a new objective.
As you know, the purpose of your previous mission was to activate a viral computer hack to force the enemy targeting system in the sky formation to deliver an electro-magnetic pulse blast on Grid L7-11, which is the crashsite of Inuit Survey Vessel Kran, which went down over Na Pali 12 years ago. Na Pali being part of the Gryphon system, it took Inuit a long time to mark an official path of the ship's trajectory so USM could legally go in and retrieve the vessel.
As you were informed in your last mission, the ISV-Kran was in possession of an important data template that was stowed onboard the ship's 5th deck as a recording device. ISV-Kran successfully gathered data from over 16 alien worlds before it's initial crash on Na Pali. That, plus the data gathered after the subsequent crash and invasion of the vessel by the aggressive race known as the Skaarj is also marked on the code, and the combined data is invaluable to both Inuit's exploration services for the last 12 years, and to our own recent USM response to several incidents involving the Skaarj, including the Xidia Incident. The data recorded on that template could very well turn the tides in our struggle with the Skaarj. Also, the recorded data contains detailed weapons analysis on over 8 different species, information that could threaten human life as we know it if fallen into the wrong hands.
The data template has not been discovered by the Skaarj, our tracker unit has told us this much. They do have it though, and are in the process of learning about the device, so we must act before they realize what it is they have in their possession. The ship has been turned into a supply depot by the intruders and a significant portion of the vessel has undergone altercations, our survey teams took photographs of several Skaarj construction teams moving in and out of the vessel during the last month. These operations have no doubt been underway for years. The security of the template has been uncompromised so far, but there is no telling for how much longer.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will consist of a dual team infiltration and sweep. You will be team A, a one man infiltration of the Kran from your deployment location. A second sweeper team will be present in the Ship's wake, landed outside the vessel. The sweepers will have heavy artillery and a ground terrain vehicle to cover the ground troops as the aerial extraction ship will land by an abandoned temple outside the Trench. Once you have secured the template, inform the second team, led by myself, of your success and we will immediately move in and cover you. Our spotters say the enemy bears resemblance to the Skaarj forces you encountered in your last mission, meaning the group known as the "Bloodpack" will once again be your enemy. The Skaarj forces should be heavily weakened, we estimate only a handful of ground squads holed up in the Kran, but you will be heavily armored with a significant arsenal at your disposal.
Jones, you have been chosen because of your extensive combat experience with this enemy and you have the highest Skaarj kill ratio of any soldier in both USM, UMS, or any other space division. No other soldier is as well equipped to handle this sort of situation so your success in this mission will guarantee a promotion and another medal for your courage. Good luck Jones.

4. Features:

-: Supplies :-

- USM Flashlight: Standard issue illumination device, you'll need this since the Kran will be dark. Uses an Inuit gel-core Duracell battery, enclosed into the charge shell to ensure lighting power for months of constant use.

Jones's Rating: "I've always found the USM issued electric lamps useful. One time on Kenosis, I had to set a level 9 particle charge on the side of this fusion core during a firefight. The panel had been damaged so I connected the wires from the flashlight and used the Duracell to power the ignition sequencer."

- Universal Translator: Like always, standard issue phonic detector that converts dialects into English. Scanning over data terminals and other text messages allows instant message feedback into translator, so you can save information to a handheld unit for later use.

Jones's Rating: "I never leave home with it, I get thrown into so many shithole alien environments, I can't do much without this thing."

- Radio: implanted to your ear and receiver attached to vocal receptor, at anytime you can contact your team in the Trench.

Jones's Rating: "USM usually fits me with a one way radio since most of my missions are supposed to be one-way trips, if you know what I mean. It is nice to be able to chat this time around, though I'm not much of a conversationist."

- Rations: You will be given several medkits that can give you on the spot medical relief. Packs come equipped with morphine, bandages, painkillers, adrenaline shots, and other medical instruments.

Jones's Rating: "I'm tough, but I'm not that tough. I'm made of flesh and bone just like everyone else, and I do get hurt occasionally. This extra baggage is worth the weight."

- USM-Issued Kevlar: Standard issue USM armor, allows for protection from light arms fire.

Jones's Rating: "The standard issue body armor has saved my life more than I can count on both hands. This is my most cherished piece of equipment."

-: Weapons :-

- Dispersion Pistol: Standard issue stun weapon. We know you don't like to use it, but it is required. Infinite battery cell requires recharge and installed coolant unit to prevent overheating. Effective in any environment, even in zero-G.

Jones's Rating: "I never use the pop gun much in combat, but it has its uses. Since cell upgrading is illegal and expensive, USM only provides the basic issue, though I have found battery units in the field. A fully upgraded Dispersion emitter can incinerate flesh instantly and turn organic matter into ash. But most of the time this is just a last resort, and I don't have much of those." (For more information see -Arsenal- report)

- Inuit Machine-mag: Thanks to Inuit's recent fund exchange to our weapon division, we have retired the Auto-mag handgun and replaced it with a small, lightweight sub-machinegun. Resembles a casing similar to the Enforcer MK4 (a Liandri rendition of the Auto-mag, not distributed because of its higher design cost), the Machine-mag spends 35 rounds per clip. A much more efficient sidearm to go along with your primary weapons. This will be the first "official" USM use of the weapon on a mission, so the weapon division is encouraging you to make frequent use of the Machine-mag for the combat data report.

Jones's Rating: "I always was fond of the Auto-mag sidearm, and I was a little uneasy about the Inuit replacement. Inuit has some good stuff, but most of the time it is cost efficient, which means they are cheap and I've personally had their shit crap out on me during a bullet fest. But after training with the Machine-Mag in the shooting gallery, I think it just might be worthy of my holster. It's lighter than the A-mag, surprisingly, but I still gotta test it where it counts, in the field." (For more information see -Arsenal- report)

- Combat Assault Rifle MK3: USM design model, resembles the Mk2 CARifle down to pinpoint precision except for a different ammo expenditure system to account for some of the overheating problems of the previous model. 50 bullet clips fire from the easy to handle Rifle, and once again this model comes equipped with a pump-action grenade launcher like you requested. USM standard-issue model marine weapon of choice.

Jones's Rating: "USM first serviced the MK1 and I have used the series since my start in the armed services. The Duster is the only weapon I trust in a truly rough fire fight, and has been the USM primary weapon for years. I miss the huge ammo payload available with the MK2, and I never heard of any overheating problems with the model, but the MK3 is supposed to be more "efficient" and the Duster hasn't lead me astray yet. USM infiltrating has always been a burst-fire routine anyway." (For more information see -Arsenal- report)

- Inuit Systems XP-Chaingun: Recently sold to Inuit by the mining corporation, Liandri, the XP is a heavy semi-artillery weapon designed for extreme combat. USM bought the rights to use 500 units for its main division, and this one was specially ordered for you Jones. So bulky that it is impossible to run while firing the weapon, it spends rounds at two selectable rates of fire and can penetrate even the heaviest of armored foes. Try to bring this one back, ok Jones?

Jones's Rating: "A Liandri weapon, I had much experience with their stock during the Xidia Incident, and they saved my life. The Corporation might be a bunch of mother fuckers, but they do make some solid weaponry. The XP is hardcore, but kicks like a bull. I used a much older, much more unstable version of this weapon once before, but Inuit seems to have polished it up. I doubt I will need something so heavy on the Kran, but I feel better having this monster with me." (For more information see -Arsenal- report)

5. Opposition and Objectives:

Your enemy, as you know, is the occupying force known as "the Bloodpack", a select group of purebred soldiers and commandos from one side of a dueling clan of Skaarj that reside on Na Pali. They are composed almost entirely of black-armored shock-troopers that were trained to mimic Terran military tactics and used to hunt down Humans who survived crash landings on Na Pali. You have already encountered them in Operation: Nali Freedom, where you devastated their forces. The remains of the Bloodpack await you onboard the ISV-Kran, and they have no back-up support whatsoever. They are crippled and fighting blind, so you should be prepared for intense ambush warfare while onboard the vessel. They are desperate and may resort to erratic styles of combat, so be prepared for anything. The Kran has been used as a Skaarj outpost for over a decade and has gone through intense Skaarj technological assimilation. Scans indicate entire decks have been altered and even added to the structure. For this reason, your data maps will not be reliable. Luckily we can track the target's signature beacon, so we know exactly where it is. The difficulty is finding the right path.

Your opposition will mainly be composed of the surviving horde of Skaarj Commandos and Skaarj Soldiers. Other dangers are automated weapon systems that the Bloodpack is known to have on reserve power-units, pupae hatchlings that have been let into the vent systems after the EMP, and other defense systems that may need to be disabled. The Bloodpack's leader is mentioned in your objectives.

-: Objectives :-

Primary Objective: Obtain the Terran Data Template located on Deck 5. Once obtained, you must bring the device to the ground forces waiting to support you from the Trench.

Secondary Objective: If the option presents itself and you have the advantage to do so, neutralize the enemy leader, a Bloodpack general known as a "Warlord". If threat is beyond your means to acquire, ignore this objective and carry out with Primary goals.

---------------------

"You can't kill somebody without getting a little blood on your hands. We are in the business of murder. This is our job as soldiers. Do your part and keep a close eye on your buddies because they are the only family you have out there among the bullets and guts. Whatever horrible things you do you have to learn to fight through it. Dwelling on it gets you killed. But don't be afraid of getting wasted, dying is the easy part. Death is the only guarantee we have in life. So buck up Green Marine, we all get to pay our 7 Bullets at some point regardless of what happens on the mission. We all answer for our sins. The only thing expected of us is to get the job done. By any means necessary."
