*** UPDATE NOTES ***

In this version of HyperFrag I completely re-pathed the map and simplified
the path-network by using less path nodes along all the main routes. This
was done to stop "1000 pathnodes searched" ERROR MESSAGES from populating the
unrealTournament.log file which means the FC is likely to stay in the enemy
base fighting instead of going home with the flag like he's supposed to :D
Since the map has been re-pathed the FC is now leaving the enemy base like a
good bot should =P

Note that only the pathes were rebuilt, so the rest is the same as before.
So if there were other issues those will still be there. I Hope this was a
worthwhile improvement.

Enjoy :)

 DESCRIPTION:
--------------------------------------------------------------
OMG, another FraGnBraG Starship map!!!

Well there's no story, but here's a little history:

This map was originally desgined as a large DM map back in summer
of 2001 - It was called DM-OrbitalNukes and was the first
actual space craft type map i designed. Of course I did not
release it because I knew I could do a lot better ...

So i made several more "space" themed floater type DM maps, of
which two went on to be developed into real maps and released -
CTF-FNB-SpacePods (2004) and CTF-FNB-SpaceJunk (2003).

The original Oribital Nukes map was duplicated into a CTF, and a
middle section added some time during 2002, with one base using
Skarrj.utx (red) and the other using Playershp.utx (blue) and
the rest of it was sgTech1.utx - all in all very ugly and made no
sense at all (one half skaarj, one half human !? what's with that :/
so after retexturing the map to get rid of the skaarj i abandoned
it to collect dust on the shelf...

So a little while ago I called the map an alpha and uploaded it to
Unreal Playground to see what peeps thought - SabbathCat and a few
others expressed some interest in it and eventually Swanky suggested
the map for his summer 2005 CTF mappapck, so I really gotta thank
Swanky and everyone else for motvating me to finish this finally
after so long a time on the shelf ... It has had a lot done to it
in terms of finishing.

now it's chock full of Sabbath Cat meshes, and custom (non-UT99) textures
- many of which are modified, composited, or made from scratch by ME using
Paint Shop Pro and "borrowing" texture samples from textures culled from
ut2k3, ut2k4, unreal2, Ds9 the fallen, and System Shock 2, and several
Star Trek web-sites) Also included are 2j3/2k4 textures from 1HS-Howard-Stern,
and various ones from maps by kAMI and IronBlayde.

It's kinda neat looking, but imo nowhere near as interesting a layout as
SpacePods... Just a big straight up CTF for a big gang of players.!

Hope y'all enjoy the map
Cheers

# of Players: 10-20.

I tested it with up to 20 players and it worked ok, but i think 16 is the
practical limit - overall FR was 50-60 range on my 1.8G-P4/9800pro.
The best framerate is through the middle areas, and obviously the LG area outside
is the worst - i had only a minor lag when floating up high though (low = 16 FPS) .

When I tested the map on my 1G-P3/GF2, I did lag out (low = 10 FPS) in the LG when
floating up high so if you have a weak or old computer best to stay on the ground :D
Game averages for the P3 were 35-45 fps range, which I think is fine for a map this
big :D

This is a big map. Not the biggest or most complexed layout I've seen or made, but
big enough to really need teams of 6 bots or 5 human players - anything less than
that and it's way too easy to cap.

Should be good with teams of 5 to 10. I recommend 12 players, with bots set to
inhuman. Even bad CTF players are better than masterful BOTS so inhuman or godlike
settings make things more challenging if you want a good match.

Relics are fun too!
Enjoy!

 Additional files:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Sub2.umx

--------------------------------------------------------------
 Known deficiencies:
--------------------------------------------------------------
- I MyLevel'd all the textures and used tones of meshes so
the map has a gigantic filesize (almost 30 megabytes !!!
- I could have used less custom textures but that would mean i'd
have to use the stock UT textures (which i hate soooo bad!!!)
- Sound could have been better or more interesting
  (i think i drew a blank there...
- Lighting could have been better, a bit anyways...
- Yeah, it's got some big mirror floors and some graphics effects
that will tax weak machines ...
- Path network is a bit too big - the log file might start to fill up...
- the BOTs could have certainly been better...
- Map really needs to be much smaller... hmmm, maybe not =P
