STORY:

Actually, this map had a somewhat shakespearian feel to me, hence the title :)

An so, here's a _quote_ from William Shakespear (Julius Caesar Act 1, scene 2...)

...

Caesar, the Roman dictator, appears before a crowd in the streets:

"Who is it in the press that calls on me?"
"I hear a tongue shriller than all the music"
"Cry Caesar! Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear."

From the crowd, a Soothsayer cries out:

	"Beware the ides of March."

Caesar, who is superstitious, turns to his man Brutus, and asks :

	"What man is that?"

Brutus, leaning toward ceasar, explains:

"A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March."
...

Well anyone familiar with the play/story KNOWS what that meant!!!

And if you don't know you _could_ read the book ^.^ (or just google :)

DESCRIPTION:

A dusky medieval CTF arena good for 8-12 players. This layout is more-or-less
a massive reduction of a big valley type CTF layout I was playing around with
at the time of the Thunderstrike 400-Poly mapping contest in late 2004.

After building the terrain I ended up abandoning the CTF map in favour of a DM
layout that evolved into DM-FNB-DeadlyWorship.

So, I figured I'd give this valley CTF a shot for 300k, just to see if it could
even come close :) It was sitting at just over 1000K (with lights and all)

First, I scaled the original terrain down to half-size, then went a few rounds of
simplifying it by rebrushing using a larger grid (i.e. less triangles, but bigger ones)
Well it almost worked - got it down to around 450K and that was pretty much just
the skybox, terrain, flags, nodes and some lights. Not much ramps or deco.

Close but but no cigar! I had room for only about ten more brushes, and nothing else.

Didn't give up though, I decided to just chuck the terrain and make the thing an
arena (having a little bit of rock along the sides) rather than two distinct bases
as were planned for the valley.

Well all I can say is this - it feels more or less the same as the original map, just
a lot smaller, which is ok imo, because now we have a shorter trip between flags, less
sniping, and more fighting!!

Sorry about the skybox lines! The skybox went a bit funny and unfortunately I'm not
arsed to fix it - this map is about as good as it'll be (which is not bad IMO).

You can have a good time 5 vs 5 against masterful+ bots - in fact, you'll have to work
hard, lol!

Have fun!

Construction
--------------------------------------------------------------
Base: Original Map

Build Time: This map idea was originally from late 2004, iirc, a simple
ut99 terrain with some ramps and a nice skybox - maybe 6 hours back then.

The rebuild for 300K took several tries so around 6 hours altogether...

likely will not work on those until the few UT99 maps are done
It's become very hard to find time to do any mapping :( so i'll do
what I can - we'll have to see how it goes... :)
