 NOTES:

 Version 3 -- fixed the Skybox a bit, added a Garage sale sign that was missing  
 all along, and a few birdies ... Also yellowed up the sky a bit because it's late 
 afternoon ... Fixed it so you don't loose your marbles when you play this on a server :)

 Played a bit with the lighting in the map but decided (wisely) to leave the even ambient
 alone and not ruin the framerate by adding unnecessary shadows - as it is, peeps with 
 older machines may have their troubles anyways... Sorry about that, but if it works ok 
 for me then it should work ok for you cause my system is damn old nowadays :D  

 So this is the THIRD (and FINAL) version of this map, which was made for the Unreal 
 Playground  BOARD GAME contest July 2007.

Heh, Looks like teh Rock-EM-Sock-Em-RObots have scored a DOUBLE KNOCK-OUT!!!

I asked to make Rock-Em-Sock-EM, which wasn't in the original list of board games, since I had 
the game when I was a kid (that would be long time ago, lol! 

I got busy making the thing, trying hard to remember how the hell it was put together - after a 
few cracks at getting started i just grabbed some pix off the web and used those as a rough 
guide - the underneath part of the boxing ring is completely made up, heh, but i think it might 
have been something like that :o.

I don't expect this will be any kind of winning map since I didn't put much effort into it :D
The map was made for the fun of making it, and hopefully to provide a fun CTF with lots 
of route options and spammy server action ;)

The aim in this design was to try and keep the polys and nodes down and keep it as simple as possible 
so it could be played on-line without problems -- with teams of 6-8 on Masterful or better, you'll have 
a good fight, although one you'll win -- at least the little BOT buggers get the flag and DO cap on their 
own ... they also get stuck around the joint abd have some fear using the lower middle route for some 
stupid reason -- so much so that i actually connected the two sides deo it is a DIRECT route and they 
STILL rarely use it!!! oh well :D

The map lacks in detail, except for the robots, but again, this is to keep the frameRate as high as 
possible for online play. As always, sniping campers who like to sit up on the higher perches will pay 
the price in lost framerate - there 600 or more polys visible from the upper ropes! 

One thing I did do was leave HSD on in the skybox ... I hope that doesn't cause probs for anyone !?
If it turns out that that is an issue then I'll rebuild the without HSD.

All in all, I find the map runs quite well on my old P4 - often having mtch averages between 70 and 90
FPS. So if you have problems running it - better go fix your UT 'cause it's not my fault this time, 
ha ha !!!

Depending on how the map does and what feedback I get - i may release a fixed-up version 2 map, if 
it is worth doing, otherwise this is it!!! It is what it is, so I'm moving along to my other projects.

Base: Original Map

Build Time: for v1 and v2 - about 20 hours total...
v3 adds another 1 hour or so :)

Note that about 10 hours for the bsp lighting and bots
the rest of the time was spent finding and fixing up the 
game-box artwork and frigging around with the robots 
as movers, which was very disappointing results - mainly 
due to excessive black polygons and disappering brushes
etc .. Play-testing and smart-alt-path adjustments took 
some time also... 

It _is_ nice to make something simple once in a while :D
Contests are ALWAYS FUN!

in  a Botmatch or an Internet game.
