THE DOOR~MOVING DOOR!
I learned everything i know by another tutorials
that i've seen and now i'll put it in my own words.
(is that even posible???)
PART 1 - MAKING THE MOVER!
Let's start by opening unrealED and creating two rooms with the dimentions of 512 x 512 x 512 and connect them with another room 256 x 256 x 512 "Hight x Width x Depth" and light it, add the playerstart and zoneinfo's, taxture the walls and hall as you like then compile it!
It should be like this but with the textures that you've
picked when your done!
Ok, now make a square box with the diameters of: 256 x 256 x 16 and texture
it for a door, try something like the "dth_dr" in the door catagory of the Ancient
textures, if there not in the list of textures to the right, then hit the import
button and select the Ancient.utx and import it!
now drag the box you just made into the middle of one of the rooms so it floats
just above the ground
like this.....
Now, make your brush 272 x 272 x 24 and suround the door you just made.
Like this...
Then
Go to the 3d window and right click on the red wire brush and select "COPY POLYGONS-TO BRUSH".
You now have (if you did it right) a brush you can make a mover
brush out of!
"CONGRADULATIONS!!!!...
BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET!
I know it does not look like a door right now but you won't see the actual door
until your in the map after you compile it!
We are going to save the brush (MOVER THAT YOU'VE JUST MADE) because By exporting
it, you can use it in another map if you want by just importing it back into
the unrealED and use it then, let's save it shall we......
Select the purple brush that you've just created and then go to the brush menu
and select : "EXPORT",
a dialog box comes up.
Now name it "Door1" and hit save!
Now you have it for any other map you want that exact door in, just import it
in to the map that you want and hit the mover button to add it like you did
here! =)
position your purple mover brush like this, right click on it and select "Mover
Keyframe-Key1"
now it needs to be moved to it's opened position now so move
it into the wall like so
(or the way you want it opened)
and right click it again and select "Mover Keyframe-Key
0 (Base)"
At this point, the mover has re-positioned itself back to the start position
and now is the time to rebuild your map and check out what you've done........
What are ya wait'n 4, "GO,GO,GO!!!!"........( and come
back of course to finish this tut. =) )
